This is another attempt at sharing the link with you:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8KK9YKD3

Hopefully this one will be up for awhile. Now you need to understand the update process so here are some easy to following instructions.

Update Instructions, not for the beginner, use at your own risk and not for AT&T users on build EPE54B (although it does work on AT&T/Rogers it is not intended for your device).

Download the file located here on megaupload.

Attach your Nexus One to your computer via a micro USB cable.
Once the phone is communicating with your computer, on the phone pull down the notification area from the top of the screen to Mount the USB drive.

Rename the file to ‘update.zip’.
If the file doesn’t not show a file extension when you rename, you might have the file extensions invisible so just rename it update. This will avoid renaming the file update.zip.zip if your on Windows.

Transfer the downloaded file to the new drive on your computer (transfer to memory card of phone).
(For example My Computer –> F:\ (Removable Disk) )

Hold down the Power, Volume Down, Trackball until power turns and on with Nexus One logo displayed.

Volume Down to RECOVERY.

Press Power to select.

While Triangle and Android are showing: Hold down Power and Volume Up simultaneously. Try again until blue menu options appear.

Press Volume Down to select update.zip, then trackball to start update.

Allow time for phone to update and complete install after multiple reboots.

Update: Disclaimer: Build is not for AT&T/Rogers EPE54B although it works users should wait for an alternate release of FRF50 specific to EPE54B upgrade builds. Instructions: Reversed instructions on transferring and renaming file since its would be easier to rename the downloaded file first before transfer.

Update: This is a pre-release of Android 2.2 that was intended for Google Employees and developers to get the update which is missing features.

It’s no surprise that the Chinese schools have denied allegations of hacking Google systems as we could all speculate what would happened to the teachers, students and schools if they ever admitted it. They would likely be sent to prison or shot point-blank in the head if they ever over stepped the governments power.

Excerpt from Daily Tech:
Representatives from Lanxiang Vocational School and Shanghai Jiaotong University denied any involvement in the hacking attempts Google and other targets. Shanghai Jiaotong University is one of the most elite schools in China, with the university sharing ties with the University of Michigan and Duke University. The university routinely has western IT companies there to recruit students — both Intel and Microsoft have built facilities in a new research park by the school. The university, which excels in math and computer science, also has worked with Cisco in the past, media reports indicate.

Jiaotong recently won IBM’s Battle of the Brains engineering event, securing the school’s third victory in the past decade.

Despite official denials by Jiaotong University, Duke University now said it is re-evaluating its working relationship with the Chinese university. It’s possible Silicon Valley tech companies will also work with Shanghai Jiaotong University to try and prevent similar problems in the future.

"We’re going to have to explore that with Shanghai Jiaotong and understand the situation," said Michael Schoenfeld, Duke spokesperson, in an interview with the New York Times. "It’s a very complex situation."

Even though security experts believe the Chinese government controls organized hacking rings, Beijing official have denied knowledge of any cyber attacks. Since the Chinese government has been hesitant to locate hackers — or crackdown on internal hacking rings — it’s unknown if the two Chinese schools in question will face any type of punishment.

The Chinese government recently closed its largest homegrown hacker training web site, but has done very little to prevent other hacking cases.

What I think personally…. With stories of razor blades and GHB in candy, Toyota recalls, drywall, lead products and a list of food contaminants, China will one day admit it is trying to kill us.

The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) said Tuesday that the National Broadband Plan is an attempt to connect Americans with jobs, reduce energy costs, allow access to education and healthcare service.

"In the 21st century, a digital divide is an opportunity divide," FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said in a statement, highlighting that various roadblocks are stopping one-third of the United States from subscribing to broadband.

"To bolster American competitiveness abroad and create the jobs of the future here at home, we need to make sure that all Americans have the skills and means to fully participate in the digital economy."

Last week Genachoski said he wants the current speed estimate of less than 4 megabits per second to reach a new minimum of 100 Mbps by 2020. This just a week after Google boasted its own plan to build its experimental high-speed internet service as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, with speed beyond 100 times faster that typical broadband service.

Google Nexus One is now available for current T-Mobile customers with an existing data plan as a handset upgrade of $279 instead of $379. Luckily the $100 will show up in the form of a credit via Google Checkout for those that paid the $379.

Complete eligibility rules were made available in the Google support forums and unfortunately does not include FlexPay, SmartAccess, FamilyTime, business or government account holders. You should still contact T-Mobile directly for plan & eligibility details. My T-Mobile account still doesn’t know what the Nexus One is, as seen below, leaving most details in the hands of T-Mo to figure out.

Google’s intentions were unclear regarding the price drop being related to a few customer complaints or if this is expected to create positive buzz for the device and it’s soft sales figures. This is reminiscent of Apple’s ‘do-over’ when the new iPhone was released asking current iPhone customers as much as $699 for upgrading.

Currently the phone plan being offered with the Google Nexus One is an Even More Plan with unlimited data+text+web for $79.99. I’m hoping that we still see another price drop in the cost of the actual plans (including unlimited data service) just as Verizon & AT&T are planning to lower prices for its service. After all, consumers typically first look at the overall cost as a plan but the industry is focused on making it all about the phones.

We all expect to see lower plan rates and unlimited data service for customers as we move towards more phones with heavy data requirements. Unlike the price increase for data plans, seen last year which went into affect a few months after T-Mobile lifted it’s bandwidth cap on it’s unlimited data service (I’m confused, i though unlimited meant without restrictions).

Yes the Even More Plans are a step in the right direction but costly data plans should be lowered. Why should anyone have to pay for texting or mobile-to-mobile calls? The cellular network probably uses more data to tracking your location and your phone status than it does processing text messages.

With more an more means of data conveyance out there, which ultimately lead long distance providers to change international rates to major countries at 3¢ a minute, why don’t we see major networks effectively compete to save us money. After all what is truly the cost with the growing age of faster, cheaper technology in a one-size fits all model. I dream of $50 a month unlimited everything on a 4G backbone, wake me up when we get there…

Don’t be Evil is the motto of the all spying eye, as Google sinks money into another industry outside of search engines. I commented on the satellite that was launched back in September 2008 that would give Google unprecedented satellite images of the world and you have all seen Google maps Street View but now prying into the homes through electrical mapping.

This could potentially lead to much more if the technology was to utilize microwave technology to oscillate the lines in your home detecting which room you were in or to assist mapping software with a peak inside your home from satellite.

Update: Good story here (or here) about the reasons for the power line investment by Google, written by our colleague Sam Diaz. One main reason: faster “upload” speeds.

Meanwhile, reality checks here by Mike and Om.

Cute little quip here by John Paczkowski of GMSV, on the bizarre notion that Google’s investment in Current Communications, a company that installs broadband over power lines, could some day lead to a mapping of the power lines of your house.

Along with Goldman Sachs and Hearst, Google is investing about $100 million in Current.

I have been anticipating the release of the Android G1 for some time and I’m a Gooooogler, so I love Google products. From search engine to Gmail to Google Labs to almost anything else they do, Google is a trend setter. One in which I will gladly follow but, what is up with the new Android G1 manufactured by HTC?

Everything about the phones capabilities are strong in the Google arena but extremely weak in the future-forward area. What do you mean I can’t sync with my Outlook or Exchange server? I thought Google was the innovator of making things seamlessly integrated. (not sure why I said that, just an opinion)

So I’m not saying that I don’t want an Android enabled phone I just don’t want this one from HTC at this point. Today, I am switching to T-Mobile which I will not be using one of these Android phones. Maybe in a few years when more manufacturers come out with their versions (Please keep the Qwerty keyboard) I will be more susceptible to buy. But for now I am going to stick to my new T-Mobile Dash (HTC-S621) since it was free with 2 yr-contract and comes with a $50 MIB (mail in rebate). Pay me to take the phone, after all how much money are you going to make off of me in 2 years T-Mobile?

I just don’t like the current design enough to jump on the bandwagon and get one. Give me something more stylish and flashy like the iPhone but slip a Qwerty keyboard in it, while supporting a little bit of everything and I’m sold. HTC you have disgraced the release of the Android operating system with this ugly device, so let me see what’s next.

The G1 is sturdy but looks a little ghetto.

“Tell Pooki to git sum formula fo da’ baby but skip da’ G1 cause da’ elecrick bill is due!”
