Congress.org – Letter to Rep. Ron Klein (D-Florida): FISA Renewal

I don’t think the issues is whether our country is safe from terrorism as we are always under attack by someone.  The Chinese are constantly trying to poison us with lead-based products or razor blazes in lollipops as they recently found in candy sold at a dollar store.  But the issue I have with domestic security is identifying the terrorist.  Our government often racially profile or get their intelligence information screwed up, so why would I trust them to monitor communications.

I recently came across this letter to our current head of government and Rep. Ron Klein the representative deliberating this expiring bill and I think it is time that We the People of the United States take back our country from the spying eyes of our government.  Read the below letter from my neighbor in the next county for yourself and participate in sending on to the powers that be in hopes that we can retain the privacy the founding fathers wished for us to have.

A shot in the dark as U.S. Government takes aim at rogue spy satellite

The issues of privacy may have been postponed for U.S. intelligence agencies as they lost control of a spy satellite shortly following its launch in December 2006.  The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) will supply a Standard Missile 3 (SM-3) that will be launched from a Navy ship around 11:30pm EST.

An attempt to blast a crippled U.S. spy satellite out of the sky using a Navy heat-seeking missile — possibly on Wednesday night — would be the first real-world use of this piece of the Pentagon’s missile defense network. But that is not the mission for which it was intended.

An attempt to delay the inevitable dissolve of human right to privacy has temporarily put on hold, offering a more patriotic fireworks display in the night sky.  However, this is the first of two possible attempts that may take place to destroy the potentially dangerous device floating on a path to Earth.

Floating towards Earth is an object the size of a bus carry approximately 1,000 lbs. of Hydrazine (NH2)2 fuel that was capable of spying using thermal technology able to penetrate atmospheric disturbances (such as ceilings of homes or offices).  Highly toxic hydrazine fuel, a derivative of ammonia and similar smell is a primary concern as well as a having such a large object crash in the wrong place at the wrong time, possibly Australia as some indicated.  At the cost of $60 Million, the SM-3 will hopefully hit the abomination from the sky giving us an awesome display in the night sky.

The Russian Ministry of Defense believes otherwise, arguing that this may just be a U.S. cover-up to test its aerospace missile defense system.

New York Giants announced Super Bowl XLII Champions

Eli Manning was completely excited, elated, happy and surely has made his big brother Payton Manning proud.  Congratulations on your win, the MVP award and the nice new Cadillac Escalade. There were greatful thank yous to the Giant Fans and lot of emotion.

Seems like they are the most humble team to win the game.

YouTube removed video for copyright infringment. But you got the idea.

Tire changing dangers.

Goodyear is so morbid, but it’s true.  Any number of things can happen and has happened to unsuspecting folks while changing a tire on the side of the road.

Thank goodness in Florida we have Road Rangers which is a service of the Florida Department of Transportation which stop to help you out and even change the tire for you.  Absolutely FREE!

Office Decor: The Spider Plant

A simple office plant can liven your workspace and bring the outdoors in to help your stressful work environment.

Well I currently don’t have any office plants and my co-worker thought it would be nice to bring one in.  That didn’t last too long since we live in an IT cave where there isn’t much natural light.  I have heard that there are many African native plants that actually do well in these conditions, enjoying neon desk lamps.  African violets and the spider plant.  So I am curious to try either in the office and the second it looks like it may be dying I’m going to have to take it back home.

I like these plants for their ability to branch out and start a new life.  Great for when you half kill one and need to get a new one going again.  Simply place in a glass of water until it takes root, plant in some soil and you’re done.

Having plants show how nurturing you are and can help relieve stress (No you don’t throw it at someone…)

If there are any of you out there with a spider plan in a poorly lit area I would like to know, drop me a line and give me some recommendations.

Iraqi market hit by explosion

BBC Reports: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7222816.stm

I usually try to stay clear of writing about politics and have done well to avert myself away from the Presidential campaign.  But after reading the stories of the recent  bomb attacks in south-eastern Baghdad I felt compelled.

"The operation was carried out by two booby-trapped mentally disabled women."
Brig Qassem Ata al-Moussawi, Iraqi security forces spokesman

I have lived in this country for so long that I cannot imagine what is going on over there.  And possibly there are those of us that shy away from reading this stuff, so it doesn’t affect us on a person level.  The violence that it happening over there is beyond comprehension and I have to say it touched me.

I wish it could stop and wish we could all get along.  Look out for one another, love each other, take care of each other and one day make this world a better place.  So think about what you have done lately for your fellow man, have some patience, let the other car get in the lane, take some time out for others and give others a hand.

Call of Duty 4, Fighting the Addiction

I consider my Playstation 3 a smart investment especially now that the format war over HDDVD and Blu-ray is practically over.  I say practically because it seems some HDDVD manufacturers won’t give up the fight although the majority of the market share is now in favor of Blu-ray thanks to Warner Brothers going exclusive.  But I digress as usual…

Call of Duty 4, has to be hands down the best multiplayer game I have ever played.  The sound and graphic quality of the PS3 when played on a LCD HDTV is remarkable.  The downside is that it is highly addictive.

I’ve never had to fight an addiction and now realize that I don’t see a reason why.  The amount of time spent playing online with others or just using the VoIP feature to chat with friends that I have met through the game, is sweat.

So break down, spend the $400 bucks, the additional $1,200 for a 47" HDTV and enjoy everything from video games to Blu-ray movies.

I bet they’re smarter than people!

Dolphins have to be the most intelligent and peaceful creatures on this planet.  Much like what is implied in the “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”, I watched in awe as these dolphins played with bubble rings.

I don’t know any people that can do that?

DirecTV Automated Phone System

DTV LogoI’m not a DTV customer and after the experience I’ve had I wouldn’t want to be one.  Let’s start with the automated phone system which you can reach by calling either (800) 347-3288 or (800) 531-5000. Each constantly asks the same stupid question over and over sending you into a spiraling loop stating:

"Please be advised that only representative in our service department are able to assist current customers or those that have already placed an order for DirecTV service. To get you to a representative that can assist you please select the appropriate response. If you already have DirecTV service or have recently placed an order for DirecTV service, press 1, if not press 2"

Well it doesn’t matter if you use the voice prompts or press 1 to communicate with the system it repeats that entire message over and over.  I have complained to the service reps and a few supervisors about the problem but still nothing has changed.  They do have the option to get past the messages but that takes you to order new service.  When you get to the new service staff they have to send you back to the main system where you enter your phone number of the account you are calling about and here we go again.

So much time wasted and its not even my account.  But the owner of the account if considered one of their premiere clients because their are 13 satellite receivers on the account.  Maybe we could give a little better service, just maybe.

So read my next article in which I finally get through to DirecTV to order an additional receiver….
