So you have probably changed all the clocks in your home to reflect the new Daylight Savings change of Spring Forward.  However your computer didn’t get the update time change correctly.  Problem is your computer may still be running on the old daylight savings schedule.  Before you spring forward your computer to the new time you should know that its not necessary!

Make sure your computer is up-to-date!
For Microsoft Windows XP you can download the Time Zone update here:
Knowledge Base Article# 955839

This will fix your computers database of time zones to the new Spring Forward / Fall Back schedule that was changed a few years ago.  After that update, if your clock is not displaying correctly, its because you do not have the time setup on the computer correctly, most likely as a result of changing the time manually instead of automatically letting do it’s thing.

If that’s the case, double-click on the clock in your taskbar, make sure you have the correct time zone set, the correct time and then if both of those are correct check or uncheck ‘Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings changes’.

My conclusion:
Its great to use the app for getting an idea but people should not be so quick to live and die by its results.  After all, speeds and connectivity are relative to the time of day, location, signal strength, bandwidth capacity and server availability and the list goes on.

My first results prior to these were 787 down 424 up and 1172/424 respectively.  Either way we should be seeing an update from Google in the next month in an attempt to resolve customer complaints over 3G/Edge connection.

In the meantime, if your in a 3G coverage area and have a good signal why not switch your phone over to WCDMA only.  You may get call drops and no internet when there is no 3G service available but at least you will know you are getting 3G if it is on.  This can also be done on the G1 which had its own issues when it first rolled out.

[HOW-TO: Change your preferred network selection]
In your Nexus One phone or T-Mobile G1:

• Go to your dialer and enter: *#*#4636#*#*
  (must be entered all at once without error or it will cancel out)
• Select Phone Information
• Under Set preferred network type, select WCDMA only.
• Additionally, you can press the menu button, press ‘Select radio band’
  and choose USA band.

A while back I posted an instructional on how to install a cooked ROM onto your TMobile Dash aka HTC Excalibur.  Since then there have been numerous updates and newer ROMs cooked for digestion.

A kind of mating call to other birds chirping or “Tweeting” on the internet.  You can even set up your mobile device to text message (40404) to the service, a very easy setup required via twitter.com.

Services like Tr.im and Pic.im make it easy to use Twitter for linking to other sites and pictures.  But there is so much more you can do with Twitter commands on the website or from your mobile phone.  Such as finding out who someone else is by entering: whois SunSentinel which will return the following message

• ON: turns ALL phone notifications on.
• OFF: turns ALL phone notifications off.
• STOP, QUIT: stops all messages to your phone immediately
