You spent the money, now it’s time to protect your investment. Just as our Tim Hillebrand told you in his ‘Draping the Droid’ article, the first thing you do is look for bling to protect your newly purchased stuff. Accessories are slowly becoming available for the Nexus One, but here are a couple great products that are available right now.
Skinomi’s TechSkin (www.skinomi.com), screen protector, $9.95 or $18.95 for full body protectors via Amazon.com, offers a lifetime replacement warranty on its products. That means you get a free replacement should you scratch, tear or damage it while it protects your device. I don’t know when a lifetime is but I am sure it will outlast the life of owning the phone, just before we install earplug cellphones that we command with our thoughts.
Granted the protect is good and the warranty great but I was more excited about the packaging. Easy to open flip top box with a spray bottle in the center with the squeegee and skin kept inside the cover. The spray bottle, which contains what smelled like lotion and dirty water (It rubs the lotion on it’s skin, or else it gets the hose again.) is used to wet the fingers for handling the skin. The installation was easy and took a few minutes. They also offer a complete cover solution that wraps the entire device found here.
Luxury Mobile (www.luxmo.com), $12.99 for clear, $11.99 for alternate colors or silicon cases in many colors between $3.99 to $9.99 for silicone cases via Amazon.com, offered this clear plastic snap-on case with a neat diamond (argyle like) pattern. If your in a need of a splash of color you can find it in green, pink, light blue or choose from silicone cases in even more colors. The phone slips into the bottom of the case and then stretches just enough to fit it over the top.
All of the holes are placed perfectly around the mics, earphone jack, USB ports, camera and flash. But it is difficult to see your customer inscription on the rear of the phone. It may be plastic but it adds a classy sophisticated look to an already sophisticated phone. Pretty straight-forward cover and go.
