Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM for the T-Mobile Dash

UPDATE 7/29/2010: 3VO.3.50.033010  modified and ready for downloading!

Excalibur32A while back I posted an instructional on how to install a cooked ROM onto your TMobile Dash aka HTC Excalibur.  Since then there have been numerous updates and newer ROMs cooked for digestion.

The biggest changes for the latest download is the incorporation of the new Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system which has been tremendously improved in the area of memory utilization and performance.  The latest contender is the 3VOLUTION 3VO.3.50.033010  (WM 6.5 Standard Core 23017) thanks to chef Ookba!  Awesome work on this latest release!

There is so much going on with this latest update that I don’t know where to start so it’s better if you just go get it and flash your phone immediately.

Following all the instructions from the previous post but use the 3VO.3.50.033010 download available here when updating the ROM.  There are additional mirror sites for alternate download performance or use the primary MediaFire source:

You won’t be disappointed!

Flashing instructions haven’t changed so just view them here TMobile Dash Flashing

I can't open an existing office word document, or creat a new one. It says no application is associated or something like that.

I noticed you loaded the WM6.5 ROM onto a T-Mobile Dash Black. Do you happen to know if it would work on the original T-Mobile Dash? I upgraded it to WM6.0 without any problems, and would like to try out this cooked ROM, but I figured I'd inquire first.
  • Also there is a newer version of the ROM, 3VOLUTION 3.50 (03/30/10) here: http://www.mediafire.com/?nkum2mw5iky

7zip (freeware) or WinRAR (trialware) is required to open the compressed archive file. www.7zip.com or www.rarlabs.com
  • Yes. You can use the cooked ROM on any of the TMobile Dash phones.
However, the newest model [T-Mobile Dash 3G] cannot use these ROMs.

I worked on it some more and forgot i had to run the auto.bat to get the dos program to load like when I loaded 6.1 rom. After that everything was smooth sailing. Thanks for the quick reply.

On another note, I noticed there is an overclocking program and was curious what the safest/highest speed can be had?

To add to previous post. Tried with both 64 and x86 windows 7 untimate with the same results.

Am getting an ERROR [270]: UPDATE ERROR

The image file is corrupted. Please check your Update Utility.
  • You have to run the application unlocker before you can flash. Follow the instructions here for downloading the SDA Application Unlocker:

Could somebody help me to disable GPRS from this ROM.... and take away the weather news.....
  • I am also getting much better performance with the latest release. The last one gave me problems with the wifi and bluetooth intermittently. So far... knock on wood, its' working great! And your right about the memory handling and performace so much better than before. Don't have to worry all the time about closing as many applications to use my camera.

thanks for the information... just updated my 1G Dash to WM 6.5. quicker, better memory handling, better experience... overall A+ improvement from WM 6.0 and WM 6.1 on the same device. i had to reconfigure the Internet GPRS settings (http://www.quickim.com/support/gprs-settings.html#USA), but was complete in under 20 minutes
