HAITIAN MIGRANTS KILLED
At least 2 Haitian migrants are dead, dozens of others missing after their boat capsized off the coast of Turks and Caicos. It’s feared as many as 200 people were on board. The U.S. Coast Guard believes smugglers were trying to bring the migrants to South Florida.

DON’T TEXT AND DRIVE
A disturbing new stat to report about the risks of texting and driving. Researchers say drivers who text and drive are 23 times more likely to have an accident.

MIAMI’S 113TH BIRTHDAY
Miami is marking a major milestone, celebrating its 113th birthday today. There’s a party organizers have named: “Coming Together” Creating A New Vision”. At 2 o’clock this afternoon there is a historic bus tour, followed by a children’s celebration at the historic Lyric Theatre.

WHITE HOUSE MEETING
The President, the Professor and the police officer will sit down Thursday night at the White House to talk about the arrest that’s sparked a national debate on race relations and racial profiling.

BROWARD SCHOOL BOARD MEETS WITH LAWYER
Members of the Broward School Board will hold a private meeting with their lawyer, a week from today, August 4th to talk about the lawsuit brought by the Broward Teacher’s Union. The union is suing to get a raise they say was already negotiated then withdrawn. In addition to the school board, Superintendent Jim Notter is named in that lawsuit.
