HIALEAH MYSTERY
HOT 105 continues to follow a mystery in Hialeah: 6th Avenue and East 19th Street. Police and firefighters have been working thru the night, taking a house apart, floorboard by floorboard. The man who lives there, 33 year old Jose Ramon Allegre’, has been missing since Monday. Authorities say a suspicious smell appears to be coming from the floor of the house.
 
BROWARD’S FIRST H1N1 DEATH
The Broward County Health Department is confirming its first swine flu death: a Davie man, 58 year old Michael Waldfogle. He had a heart problem and went to the doctor a few weeks ago complaining of flu like symptoms. His is the 3rd “H1N1” death in the state of Florida. More than 900 cases have been reported, almost half of them in Miami Dade County.
 
BROWARD TEACHERS  CALLED BACK?
Hundreds of laid off Broward teachers are expected to get word today if they will be called back to work. At least 130 will not be returning because they either missed a deadline to renew their teaching certificate or they’re taking a leave of absence.
 
STIMULUS MONEY SAVES FAMU JOBS
Federal stimulus money will save the jobs of 41 employees at Florida A & M University, for at least a year. Budget cuts forcing administrators at FAMU to do some serious juggling. They say they’re still looking at ways to save money; including merging programs, but they’re not at the point yet where any of them might be eliminated.
 
AMERICAN SOLDIER CAPTURED IN AFGHANISTAN
HOT 105 is following breaking news coming out of Afghanistan, One American soldier captured in Afghanistan by the Taliban in a remote area where there were very few soldiers, a so called forward operations area. The soldier was reportedly captured Tuesday, but we’re just learning about it today.
 
FLORIDA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS HEAD TO IRAQ
More than 900 members of Florida’s National Guard are on their way to Iraq. They’re members of the guard’s “Transportation Unit”. They begin training next week in Mississippi and they leave for Iraq in August.
 
DEA NOW INVESTIGATING MICHAEL JACKSON’S DEATH
New developments in the investigation of Michael Jackson’s death. Federal authorities are now involved.
The DEA has joined Los Angeles Police Department in trying to find out where Jackson got the prescription drugs confiscated by the coroner on the night he was rushed to the hospital. The DEA is involved because the type and the amount of drugs. There is still no firm word on where the funeral will be held or where Jackson will be buried.  There are unconfirmed reports there will be a memorial service Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
 
ECSTASY “FLOUR FOR PORK CHOPS”?
And a Boynton Beach man, 48 year old Calvin Wallace arrested on drug charges. Police say they were forced to use a taser on him three times when he resisted arrest. They say Wallace told them more than 50 grams of Ecstasy in possession was “flour for his pork chops”.
 
STALLWORTH VIDEO RELEASED?
In just a few hours, a Miami Dade judge will rule on whether surveillance video of the March deadly drunk driving accident involving NFL player, Donte Stallworth will be released to the public. The victim’s family does not want the video released. It’s surveillance video from an FPL camera. It shows the victim, Mario Reyes crossing the street in an area without a crosswalk and darting in front of Stallworth’s car. Stallworth’s blood alcohol level was well above the legal limit and we have now learned there was also marijuana in his system. He reached a financial settlement with the victim’s family. Stallworth was sentenced to 30 days and his driver’s license suspended for life.
