MEMORIAL DAY WEATHER
Is it going to rain this holiday weekend? Forecasters say it will — although they predict skies will be pretty clear on Monday. For a lot of people the Memorial Day Weekend begins today. South Florida airports are getting ready for a major increase in passengers. More than a quarter of a million people are expected to fly in and out of Fort Lauderdale Hollywood international Airport between now and Tuesday.
DEATH PENALTY?
In other news, a Haitian man, the accused boat captain in a human smuggling operation, Jimmy Metellus, could face the death penalty. At least 10 people died when the boat ran into trouble off the coast of Boyton Beach last week. Metellus is being held without bail. His next court date is a week from tomorrow, May 29th.
DUI MANSLAUGHTER CHARGES
Later today, Cleveland Browns wide receiver, Donte Stallworth will be in court. He’s facing DUI manslaughter charges. Police say his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit when he struck and killed Mario Reyes as he crossed the McArthur Causeway last month.
MAN ACCUSED OF SHOOTING HIS DRUG DEALER
A Boca Raton man, 20 year old Eric James Friedman is facing attempted murder and armed robbery charges, accused of shooting his alleged drug dealer. According to police, Sean Pozin told them he was at Freidman’s home, selling him marijuana when Freidman pulled out a gun, shot him and beat him up. Pozin suffered minor injuries.
FCAT RESULTS FOR THIRD GRADERS
This is a big day for third graders, FCAT results are being released for the reading and math segments of the exam. The grades determine if a student moves on to the 4th grade.
