4 SHOT IN MIAMI
Four young people hospitalized this morning victims of an apparent drive by shooting in Miami at NW 13th Avenue and 62nd Street. The victims, 15 to 21 were standing near the intersection when the gunmen drove up. If you know anything that could help police please call Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
HEARING POSPTONED
A teenaged murder suspect, 16 year old Denard Orange’ hearing postponed until tomorrow so his lawyer can review the arrest report. He’s accused of robbing and killing Gregory Smith earlier this month in front of Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes.
MONEY FOR MARLINS’ PARKING
Miami’s City Manager and Chief Financial Officer now want to spend 9 million dollars to help build parking lots and garages for the Marlins Stadium in Little Havana.
It’s money Commissioners promised would not be touched. It would come from the general fund, which is used to pay for critical services like fire and police.
BROWARD COURTHOUSE LEAK
In other news, another leak at the Broward County courthouse destroying as many as 15-hundred legal files.
Flooding has been a major problem at the courthouse, forcing it to close, for days, on more than one occasion.
VIDEO GAME ADDICTION?
A troubling finding to report about kids and video games. They’re addictive, similar to gambling. Students at the “U”, the University of Miami apparently don’t need lessons on how to party. Playboy is out with its list of top party schools. UM is number one. Playboy says they used a scientific approach and developed algorithms to keep bias out of the results. Criteria included the guy to girl ratio, the number of late night study rooms available and gallons of beer consumer.
STEPHEN SMITH LEAVES ESPN
And sportscaster, Stephen A. Smith is leaving ESPN. He and the network couldn’t’ agree on a new contract. Smith says its time to move on, that he wants to also explore the worlds of politics and entertainment.
