Cruise Passengers Injured
16 passengers traveling on the Celebrity Cruise ship, “summit” injured in a day trip on the Caribbean island of Dominica. They were airlifted and taken to Jackson Memorial hospital with injuries ranging from cuts and bruises to broken bones. The tourists were on a safari-style bus when the brakes reportedly failed and it slammed into a wall.
Suspended Miramar Commissioner’s Felony Trial
This is day 3 of suspended Miramar Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman’s felony trial. He’s accused of aggravated assault with a firearm, for allegedly pulling a gun on a customer in a Winn Dixie in November of 07. Salesman’s lawyer argues it was a clear cut case of self-defense. Yesterday jurors heard testimony from 2 store employees.
Broward School Board Redistricting
In other news, the Broward School Board is once again re-drawing school boundary lines. 7 elementary schools will be impacted in Coconut Creek, Parkland and Margate. There will be two public hearings. The first one is tonight, 5:30 at Plantation High School, 6901 NW 16th Street.
