Solid State Drivers (SSD) are still a relatively new product in the tech world, so prices are still way to high for faster drive access. Although this will speed up your PS3 experience we will have to wait for the drive sizes to increase and the prices to decrease.
Just image it was a memory based drive, no more spinning platters but at the cost of $5000 for a 64GB drive, I will stick to normal drives for now.
